Alliance Building Services is a leading New York City provider of commercial building maintenance, janitorial services, security, and restoration. The Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance of the assigned building and common areas. This role supports Alliance Building Services' janitorial and building maintenance operations by cleaning designated areas, removing trash, replenishing supplies, and ensuring the facility remains clean, safe, and presentable. The Porter reports to a supervisor or building manager and works closely with the janitorial and maintenance team. The primary goal is to maintain a welcoming, orderly, and professional environment for tenants, visitors, and building occupants.

• This position is temporary, earning $24.04 per hour, with the potential to be considered for a permanent position based on performance.

This position is located in Staten Island, NY.

• Clean and maintain building lobbies, hallways, elevators, restrooms, and other common areas.

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors and surfaces to maintain cleanliness and appearance.

• Collect, remove, and properly dispose of trash and recycling from designated areas.

• Replenish restroom supplies and other building essentials as needed.

• Monitor assigned areas for cleanliness, spills, damage, and potential safety hazards.

• Respond to cleaning requests and assist with additional duties as directed by the supervisor or building management.

• Follow established cleaning procedures, safety guidelines, and company standards.

• Maintain a professional appearance and communicate effectively with building occupants, visitors, supervisors, and team members.

• 1+ year(s) of porter experience in commercial cleaning required.

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• Must be available to work any of the following shifts, as assigned based on business needs:

  • Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM

  • Tuesday–Saturday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM

  • Wednesday–Sunday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

• Professional appearance and effective communication skills.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs., bend, reach, and carry items as needed.

• Ability to follow instructions, work independently when necessary, and collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
