The Staten Island Workforce1 Career Center is partnering with Person-Centered Care Services to find qualified candidates for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in Staten Island, NY. Person-Centered Care Services is a nonprofit organization that supports people with disabilities while promoting self-identity, acceptance, and inclusion. Guided by the values of support and equity, PCCS provides person-centered services while encouraging professional growth and community engagement.

Position Overview

The Direct Support Professional (DSP), also known as a Life Skills Coach, supports individuals with disabilities by promoting independence, safety, and meaningful participation in their communities. The role provides person-centered assistance with daily living, community engagement, and skill development while helping individuals achieve their personal goals. DSPs also document services and build positive relationships with the individuals they support. Depending on the program, employees may work in a group home, client's home, or day program site.

 

This position is located in Staten Island, New York.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide person-centered support to individuals with disabilities.
  • Assist with daily living activities and personal care needs.
  • Promote independence, safety, and community participation.
  • Support individuals with skill development and personal goals.
  • Build positive and respectful relationships with individuals.
  • Participate in community activities and off-site services.
  • Complete required documentation of services.
  • Travel to off-site locations and use GPS location services within eVero when required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a caregiving role preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required for Day Habilitation, IRA, and Employment Support positions.
  • Personal vehicle required for Employment Support positions.
  • CPR/First Aid certification required for IRA and Day Habilitation departments.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including assisting with toileting, hygiene, and lifting as needed.
  • Ability to travel to off-site locations and use GPS location services within eVero when required.
  • Reasonable accommodations will be considered for physical requirements.
  • Must have open availability.

Pay Range

USD $18.00 - USD $25.00 /Hr.
