The Staten Island Workforce1 Career Center is partnering with the Research Foundation of the City University of New York (RFCUNY) to find qualified candidates for a Business Advisor in Staten Island, NY. Founded in 1963, RFCUNY is a nonprofit educational corporation that provides fiscal, administrative, and operational support for CUNY research and sponsored programs. RFCUNY supports research and community programs while helping CUNY researchers and staff focus on academic, scientific, and community-focused work.

Position Overview

The Business Advisor provides one-on-one counseling and comprehensive assistance to small businesses, startups, and aspiring entrepreneurs. The role helps clients with business formation, business plans, market research, financial planning, and other business-related needs. The Business Advisor also conducts community outreach, leads workshops and presentations, and builds relationships with clients, partners, and community stakeholders. This position manages a varied client caseload while providing technical assistance and maintaining accurate, confidential records.

 

This position is located in Staten Island, New York.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one counseling and assistance to small businesses, startups, and entrepreneurs.
    Guide clients in business formation, business planning, market research, and financial planning.
    Conduct outreach to businesses and entrepreneurs within the community.
    Participate in business events and networking activities.
    Develop and lead training sessions, workshops, and presentations.
    Build and maintain relationships with clients, partners, and community stakeholders.
    Manage a varied client caseload and maintain accurate documentation.
    Provide technical assistance to help clients achieve their business goals.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, management, finance, economics, or a related field required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in private-sector business or a related public technical assistance environment.
  • Strong customer service skills to identify client needs, troubleshoot issues, and provide solutions.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience building and managing partnerships with external liaisons.
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality.
  • Valid driver's license and personal vehicle required for daily client visits.
  • Strong organizational and technical skills; detail-oriented.
  • Knowledge of small businesses and the New York Congressional District 11 community.
  • Availability to work some evenings and weekends.

Pay Range

USD $25.00 - USD $28.37 /Hr.
