The Staten Island Workforce1 Career Center is partnering with Eden II Programs to find qualified candidates for a Direct Support Professional (DSP) position in Staten Island, New York. The organization's mission is to support individuals with autism through service, science, and passion so they can achieve their full potential throughout their lives. Using evidence-based principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA), Eden II Programs is nationally recognized for its work with individuals across the autism spectrum.  

Position Overview

The Direct Support Professional provides hands-on care and support to individuals participating in Eden II’s Adult Day Habilitation Program. The role assists participants with daily living skills, meal preparation, community outings, appointments, and other activities that promote independence and community integration. The position works closely with program staff and supervisors to ensure participants receive safe, respectful, and individualized support. The primary goal is to enhance participants’ quality of life while encouraging independence and meaningful participation in the community.

 

This position is located in Staten Island, NY.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and support to participants with daily living and ADL skills.
  • Assist with meal preparation, cooking, laundry, and light housekeeping.
  • Support participants during community outings, appointments, recreational activities, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Promote independence, socialization, and community integration through individualized support.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, families, and other care team members.
  • Follow established safety procedures, care plans, and program guidelines.
  • Complete required documentation and report relevant participant updates or concerns.
  • Maintain a respectful, supportive, and professional environment for all participants.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Prior experience in direct care, human services, healthcare, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Must be able to assist with ADLs, meal preparation, housekeeping, laundry, and community activities.
  • Must successfully complete SCIP training.
  • Must be willing to complete CPR and First Aid certification, if not already obtained.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Must demonstrate patience, reliability, professionalism, and a commitment to supporting participant independence.

Pay Range

USD $18.50 - USD $20.50 /Hr.
