The Staten Island Workforce1 Career Center is partnering with Safe Horizon to find qualified candidates for a Crime Domestic Violence Victim Advocate (CVAP) in Staten Island, NY. Position Overview

The Crime Domestic Violence Victim Advocate (CVAP) provides trauma-informed support, crisis intervention, and case management services to victims of crime while working directly within an assigned NYPD precinct. This position partners closely with law enforcement to conduct victim outreach, help clients navigate the criminal justice system, develop safety plans, and connect individuals with community resources. The role also maintains accurate case documentation and provides ongoing advocacy for survivors of violent crime and domestic violence while collaborating with community partners and Safe Horizon programs.

 

This position is located in Staten Island, NY.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide trauma-informed, client-centered advocacy and support to victims of crime.
  • Conduct victim outreach, safety assessments, and individualized safety planning.
  • Collaborate with NYPD personnel, community organizations, and city agencies to coordinate services.
  • Assist clients with navigating the criminal justice system and applying for NYS Office of Victim Services compensation.
  • Connect clients with housing, shelter, mental health, medical, and other community resources.
  • Maintain accurate case documentation and case records.
  • Conduct community presentations, outreach, and trainings related to victim services.
  • Work with internal Safe Horizon programs to coordinate comprehensive client support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent training or experience required.
  • Two years of experience in crime victim service delivery or other relevant experience required.
  • Knowledge of police, criminal justice, and housing systems is helpful.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently within a precinct or PSA setting.
  • Clear verbal and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to maintain case records.
  • Bilingual ability may be required based on precinct or community needs.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Pay Range

USD $25.83 - USD $26.37 /Hr.
