The Staten Island Workforce1 Career Center is partnering with Eden II Programs to find qualified candidates for a Teacher Assistant position in Staten Island, New York. Established in 1976, Eden II Programs began with just six students and one special education teacher and has grown to serve more than 500 participants throughout New York City and Long Island. The organization's mission is to support individuals with autism through service, science, and passion so they can achieve their full potential throughout their lives. Using evidence-based principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA), Eden II Programs is nationally recognized for its work with individuals across the autism spectrum.  

Position Overview

The Teacher Assistant provides instructional support to students under the supervision of a certified teacher. In this role, you will help implement lesson plans, reinforce classroom instruction, and support students in reaching their academic, behavioral, and social-emotional goals. You will work with students individually and in small groups while assisting with classroom management, monitoring student progress, and preparing instructional materials. This position plays an important role in creating a safe, supportive, and productive learning environment for students with diverse learning needs.

 

This position is located in Staten Island, New York.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional support under the supervision of a certified teacher.
  • Work one-on-one or with small groups to reinforce lessons and learning objectives.
  • Assist in implementing lesson plans and classroom activities.
  • Support classroom management and help maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Monitor student progress and report observations to the teacher.
  • Assist students with assignments, classwork, and skill development.
  • Prepare instructional materials and organize classroom resources.
  • Support students with diverse learning needs, including those with developmental disabilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Diplomas earned outside of the United States must be evaluated and determined to be equivalent to a U.S. diploma.
  • Must pass the New York State Assessment of Teaching Assistant Skills (ATAS).
  • Strong planning and organizational skills required.
  • Knowledge of classroom management techniques required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.

Pay Range

USD $18.00 - USD $22.50 /Hr.
