Position Overview

The Job Developer establishes and maintains relationships with employers throughout New York City to place WeCARE participants in employment aligned with their vocational goals.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions

  • Conduct a minimum of 25 cold calls daily to identify hiring businesses; follow up with employers and VRS participants.
  • Secure at least 14 unsubsidized placements (part-time or full-time, minimum 20 hours/week, at or above approved minimum wage).
  • Conduct 2–3 field visits bi-weekly to strengthen employer partnerships and create job opportunities.
  • Maintain a comprehensive job bank and leverage employer relationships to meet participant needs.
  • Assess participant skills, identify employment barriers, and present participants effectively to employers.
  • Produce weekly reports on cold calls and field visits; conduct daily follow-up with employers.
  • Design and implement recruitment strategies, job fairs, employer visits, and online information sessions.
  • Enter case notes into SEAMS (HRA’s system) and FedcapCARES for VRS participant services.
  • Announce job leads in workshops and collaborate with Work Readiness Facilitators on follow-ups.
  • Assist retention unit to ensure employment data is accurate and verified.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

To be considered qualified for this job, you must have a bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field and at least one year of job development or placement experience. You should have experience creating jobs for individuals with disabilities or special accommodations. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required. You must be familiar with NYC labor market trends and employer-based incentives and be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. The role requires someone organized, detail-oriented, flexible, and able to work independently or collaboratively. You must maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality while supporting participants in achieving their employment goals.

Pay Range

USD $25.48 - USD $26.44 /Hr.
