Position Overview

The Youth Counselor works as scheduled in Healing Homes, providing supervision, support and direction to children fostering their positive growth and development; maintains a hazard free, clean and orderly household; prepares meals to conform to menus; completes all required logs, forms and reports, participates in meetings as scheduled; accompanies groups or individual children for outside activities or appointments as scheduled.

 

This position is located in Staten Island, NY. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily supervision and care for youth in a structured residential setting
  • Support residents with daily routines including school attendance, meals, chores, and bedtime
  • Monitor health and well-being, including administering medications as required
  • Transport and accompany youth to appointments, school, and recreational activities
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized living environment
  • Document incidents, progress notes, and required reports in a timely manner
  • Support independent living skills development and facilitate group activities
  • Provide crisis intervention, guidance, and behavioral support using trauma-informed practices

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of professional child care or youth services experience required
  • Ability to support, guide, and supervise children in a structured environment
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm and provide leadership in crisis situations
  • Must demonstrate emotional stability and serve as a positive role model
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Valid driver’s license preferred (for transportation duties)

Pay Range

USD $23.50 - USD $23.50 /Hr.
