Position Overview

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for implementing person-centered services for each individual. This includes ensuring implementation of the individual’s services, goals and outcomes in relation to program-based and community inclusion activities. In addition, the Direct Support Professional is directly responsible for the individual’s overall physical and emotional well-being.

 

This position is located in Staten Island, NY. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support individuals in achieving their personal goals and outcomes through daily activities, skill development, and community engagement.
  • Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, behavioral support, and recreational activities as needed.
  • Promote community inclusion by encouraging social interaction, independence, and relationship-building with peers, coworkers, and community members.
  • Transport individuals or assist them with public transportation to appointments, activities, and community outings.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation related to medical, behavioral, and service plans while ensuring compliance with agency, state, and federal regulations.
  • Provide individualized supervision and ensure a safe, clean, and supportive environment for all individuals served.
  • Communicate professionally with families, advocates, service providers, and team members to support individuals’ overall well-being.
  • Maintain required certifications (AMAP, CPR/First Aid, SCIP) and adhere to confidentiality, HIPAA, and incident reporting policies at all times.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) strongly preferred but not required.
  • One year or more experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Valid NYS driver's license preferred but not required.

Pay Range

USD $19.00 - USD $21.00 /Hr.
