The Substance Use & Family Support Specialist will serve as the substance abuse specialist for the Clinical Supports Program. Provides consultation and engagement support to CPS Teams working with families impacted by substance use disorders. Assists with assessment, harm reduction, treatment linkage, and safety planning to support child and family well-being. This position will work directly with CPS staff to provide trauma-informed consultation, crisis intervention, and guidance to ensure families receive timely access to appropriate services. The Substance Use & Family Support Specialist will act as the primary liaison between CPS teams, community providers, and partner agencies to streamline referrals, improve coordination of care, and ensure consistent responses for families. This position requires flexibility, as some cases may require after-hours or weekend response depending on client needs or emergency situations.
Apply a trauma-informed, client-centered, and culturally responsive approach in all work with families and staff.
Serve as the substance use liaison between CPS, community partners, hospitals, and treatment providers.
Conduct substance use screenings, brief assessments, crisis intervention, and psychoeducation for families.
Provide consultation and case planning support to CPS staff, including strategies for addressing complex family dynamics and safety planning.
Facilitate referrals and warm handoffs to treatment and community services, ensuring coordination of care and follow-up.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary partners through case conferences, home visits, and discharge planning meetings.
Deliver trainings for ACS/CPS staff on addiction, recovery, mental health awareness, and trauma-informed practices.
Maintain accurate documentation and reporting, participate in team meetings and professional development, and respond to emergent mental health needs as required.
