A Very Special Place, Inc., founded in 1974, provides a comprehensive network of programs and services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Direct Support Professional will assist individuals with daily living skills and community orientation which includes, but is not limited to: assisting individuals in carrying out day-to-day activities; carrying out goals specified on each individual, individualized treatment plan; supporting individuals in community inclusions, advocacy and independence.

• Provide personal care: Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene

• Support daily living: Help with meals, medication reminders, and household tasks

• Promote independence: Encourage individuals to develop life skills and make choices

• Ensure safety: Monitor health, follow care plans, and respond to emergencies

• Behavior support: Implement behavior plans and de-escalate challenging situations

• Community involvement: Assist with outings, appointments, and social activities

• Documentation: Record daily activities, progress, and incidents accurately

• Team collaboration: Communicate with supervisors, healthcare staff, and families
